Another primitive piece, this time a necklace. I'm fascinated by adornment. From early pieces like this to modern cosmetics and jewelry, people have been fancying themselves up since we first figured out how. I think we should all go back to wearing animal bones and rocks.
Approx. 4 inches long x 3 inches across. Lower mandible of fox, glass beads, natural quartz crystal (removable), copper wire, leather.
The quartz is a good idea for the addition of this piece. My suggestion is don't wrap up the quartz as much as you did. It takes away from the beauty of the crystal itself. If you want to secure it within the jaw, perhaps wrapping a few times at the base and a few times at the point, perhaps middle, will be best. The glass beads you chose are beautiful, but I would like to see more of the teeth. The teeth are the most striking part of a jaw. Don't cover them up. I'm not too sure if this will increase the overall look of the piece, you may very well even have it in the good spot for balance, but have you tried attaching the leather necklace to the part (forgive me I'm not entirely good with the terms) of the mandible that attaches to the cranium? That might look better, but its hard to say on that one.
This is gorgeous. I agree. We should go back to wearing bones and rocks. I would love this to show it. Sadly it's out of my price range. Will still enjoy just admiring it from this pic though. Wonderful combination. The beads, bones, and stone look fantastic together.
